False Advertising Claims Overview

Multiple claims can be filed with false advertising.  The New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act, N.J.S.A. 56:8-1, New York Deceptive  Practices Act Gen. Bus Law 349. prohibit fraud and other forms of deception.   There are also specific regulations that apply to certain type of advertising such as automobile sales advertising. 

The Federal Trade Commission institutes enforcement actions but generally intervenes only in terms of large-scale frauds.
